Europe, part 2 of 4.

View from the plane as we landed in Marco Polo airport, Venice.

Dear readers,

October 23d 2017.

We flew from Belgium to Venice, Italy  yesterday and today we went around Venezia.

I started my day with a slice of Italian pizza.

Since Venice is a city surrounded by water, there are no cars. Instead people’s main means of transport is water bus! It was amazing how it ran just like a regular bus with stops and tickets and stations despite it being a boat.

One of the water bus’ stops in Venice.

We arrived at St.Marco and it was packed with tourists! But we had a good view of Gondolas and open water.

I took this on the Gondola, this is St Marco.

My view from St.Marco

After having coffee on the pigeon infested St Marco square (note that I have a slight bird phobia so that wasn’t easy to do) we had a gondola ride, and that was the highlight of my trip to Venice!

My Grandmother and I on St.Marco square.

Views from the Gondola

A gondola is a long small boat.

And since we had some time to kill, we got some food and while doing that saw more of Venice.

Me in Venice

Taking advantage of all the photo opportunities

We then left for Madonna Del Orto, which was where our hotel was, where we witnessed a sunset that was so beautiful it reminded me that even when things come to an end, they can hold beauty.

With that, I end this blog post.

    -Xoxo, Kiki.

Dear Diary

Dear Readers,

  18/Nov/2017

We flew to Belgium today, we had transit in Amsterdam for an hour. Our final destination was Brussels then my uncle picked us up and it was an hour’s drive to Kemzeke which borders Netherlands, it’s so cute!!!

  20/Nov/2017

We drove to France today! A cute place called Dunkirk, it’s historic and beautiful. When we went there was barely anything open so we just walked along the board walk.

During the second world war, soldiers would wait on this beach for the British to rescue them in extremely harsh weather conditions and even used their cars as boats.

Most of Dunkirk is one way streets and all the architecture is quite similar.

After that we went to Brugge, back in Belgium… which completely took my breath away! It is a very romantic place, boat rides on a canal, swans and beautiful architecture is what I got to experience along with a Belgian waffle I stuffed my face with.

I threw a coin over this bridge, Russian superstition says it’ll bring me back here.

Different parts of Belgium serve different kinds of waffles.

The canal ride takes you past some of the oldest architecture in Belgium!

Belgium is filled with beautiful cathedrals that trace back hundreds of years.

These swans float towards the end of the canal that sits in Brugge.

I do hate to use so many photos, but there is so little my fingers could type to allow you to understand just how beautiful Brugge is.

Belgium has been beautiful thus far and I have more records and photos to share, but I would hardly be a writer if not to leave you in suspense.

More from Belgium and other parts of Europe next Wednesday.

Dear Kenyans,

We should never slaughter one another for anyone who will remain alright whether you live or die. I am not showing any political preference what so ever, I am however announcing my support for peace and the ability of one to use their rights without it being interfered with by any person from any side of political preference. I believe everyone has every right to express their opinion without blood and violence. We’re all Kenyans, not supporters, tribes, voters, non voters etc etc we are Kenyans first and always. No sweet, smart, tender, human tissue should  ever be ripped apart because we differ.

 Announcements:

I will from now on… BE BLOGGING TWICE A WEEK!!!! So Wednesdays and Fridays.

I apologize for not blogging last week, travelling and stuff.

I get it.

Dear readers,

Well I’ve not lived very long, 14 years to be precise. So I don’t know much. I haven’t been through enough to say, but I know for sure that high school has undoubtedly been more difficult than any other phase of my life thus far.

Losing friends happens to every ‘high schooler’ on the planet and the thing is it’s not just losing a friend by no communication or by just gradually growing distant. It’s always painful, it’s always ugly and it makes us sometimes feel like bad people, it’s not just friends we lose but a lot more. Sometimes I feel like the hardest part about losing someone who was once a friend is having to see them every day. Have you ever felt like that? It’s sad to say that in life, friends hurt me more than everyone else ever could.

In high school, do you ever feel like your being watched? And that you must do everything right? If you slip up once, everyone hates you and it’s never that big a deal, but everybody is against you, and all you did was slip up once. It’s almost hard to be human.

Assumptions are so very hard to deal with “I did not say that” I’ve had alot of people talk to me about that. It’s too much, and it happens all over the globe my message today is, we as people cannot listen to a third of a conversation and assume that we heard the whole thing. If your not sure what someone may or may not have said about you, ask … It’s not fair to make people feel inferior to you, to make them feel bad, you do not have to be mean, as a reader of my blog I want you to know that no matter who you are or what you’ve done you are a human being and all human beings deserve love, deserve to be treated like the beautiful people that they are.

Talk don’t yell, understand don’t jump to conclusions, ask don’t assume, love don’t hate.

My point is that many people who are in high school undergo the same things, same scenarios, even worse. But the sad truth is that your probably going to leave high school and have it bad in college, university and so on. I know you’ve heard that before and it is true but just because life is difficult all the time does not mean your problems now are not important.

In high school and just in life sometimes, people begin to hate you for reasons you will never understand or for something they believe is true, but not everyone will like you. We just need to accept that.

Don’t allow yourself to be blamed for something you know you did not do. Just dust off and keep walking.

Be brave little one.

It’s okay to feel bad, but don’t let it break you. Don’t let what other people say define or bother you, no matter how hard it is. It’s only for a little while. Focus on being the best version of yourself you can be, focus on what’s important to you and what makes you happy, focus on what is working out for you, focus on the few people that care about you. And remember to love regardless of what anyone does to you. You do get what you give back.

It is fine to walk away. Its ok to leave poisonous people, you are allowed to say no without explaining why. You can quit something if you dont really love it you are allowed to start over with someone new you are allowed to fail and try again.

And it’s alright  to not be friends with someone ok? Do not keep someone you think is toxic. It’s hard but all the better choices are hard. Make like Elsa and let it go if it’s bad for you. You do not have to feel bad about it.

So how about we all just show some love, peace unity and R.E.S.P.E.C.T. (You know the Aretha Franklin song?!)

The hoodie I’m wearing is from Dashiki Pride. It is beautiful and comfortable just enough to make you stand out.

P.S. You are worth so much.

🌹🌹🌹

 -Xoxo,  Kiki

See you next Wednesday! Ciao.

Thank you for your service.

Dear readers,

This is Tatiana Kiara blogging from a hospital bed because hospitals are boring and I’m way past my dead line with this blog!

Camo baby!!! Embracing military vibes and making them sassy. Lets jump right into this post

Oh and remember the winner of my summer give away is in the credits below.

I needed to make this outfit more appropriate for a 14 year old so I wore a colourful bandana as a head piece.

You can wear this outfit with a chocker and cuff earrings instead.

I strongly advise in investing in a pair of these pale blue jeans, if well fitted they can go with literally anything you can find them at your favorite clothing store.

Samiha is expressing a more conservative and comfortable yet stylish look in an over sized sweater and black leggings

Pair these with your favorite pair of tomys and your hair up with over sized glasses and glossy lips and Voila  oh so comfortably fabulous!

love you Sam😘 Her mum makes the most amazing curry you guys!

Don’t worry, this picture makes me feel like my hair sucks too!

Gemma is flaunting this Jersey that I’m so obsessed with I love Jerseys they are so tomboy and so easy to style!

She wears this with a colourful crop top and jeans.

You can wear your jersey with a sports top and shorts and your favorite pair of sneakers for that ‘my boy friend is on the foot ball team’ look .

Okay. Now let’s talk shoes.

If you are a frequent reader of all things Kiki you have probably seen these shoes before

Psssstttt yeah You!!! If you can tell what blog Kiki wore these shoes you can get an item picked from Kiki’s closet to You! Leave your answer in the comments below.

Ankle length 4 inches boots. They go with literally anything! Short skirts, skinny jeans, short jump suits, they are such a necessity. They do require a lot of practice cause girl your legs are gonna feel they are about to snap into two but for Beyonce fans…

Pretty hurts. -pretty hurts Beyonce

I really love heels. They make me feel confident and boss, they also give the illusion that your legs are way longer and they effortlessly flex your leg muscles.

If your not into heels then get yourself some high kneed tan boots.

Nana and Kiki would like to thank you for reading this blog. Tell me what you think in the comments below. Did you enjoy this blog? Let me know by giving me a 👍 and be sure to tell all your friends to do so as well.

2 bloggers and a designer.

Dear readers,

Have you heard?

So Tatiana Kiara from all things Kiki and Nyawira Mumenya from curves with style worked with the designer el_afrique to showcase off shoulder ankaras!

I know right? Sounds amazing!

With no further a do …

ALL THINGS KIKI X CURVES WITH STYLE

NYAWI: Has on a yellow Ankara, she pairs this off with dark denim jeans and bright coloured open toed heels.

Tip – Nyawira has a head scarf on as a head piece, alternatively just do a high bun at the top of your head and have stronger make up on.

KIKI: I have on a more layered top in terms of color and I totally accesorized to the minimum for the more edgy look. I have on some black boots that have a heel to give the ‘boss’ and confident vibe. I have on no neck lace and therefore kept my earrings long. My jeans are high waisted and ripped for the edgy look.

Tip – Try white skinny jeans with your Ankara and a pair with your favorite sunglasses.

Remember that to truly rock an outfit you need to feel confident. Be the boss you were made to be and own the look.

Ankaras come in all sorts of shapes and colors. Long, short and with different colors and sleeves.

Choose and accessorize according to what Ankara you own. Try to keep your bottoms plain as well let the design speak for its self.

And that’s a wrap for this AMAZING collaboration!

Thanks to: My mom and dad for being of great support, my best friends, Miss_nyawi and el_afrique and to the photographer, Isaac. And all you readers, Keep being amazing.

SONG OF THE BLOG: Revival – Selena Gomez, because I’ve been gone for a while figuring everything out. 😘😗

This has been Tatiana Kiara, you have read all things Kiki. Don’t leave before commenting below and following.

                    Till next week, Xoxo Kiki.

Hi, I’m Tatiana Kiara.

Hey everyone, welcome to this blog post. Finally! I’ve figured it out. What I want to do and why.

This started as a fashion blog, but then I went on and on reading more blogs than usual and I realized that as much as the main idea around my blog is fashion, I want readers of all things Kiki to understand who it is that they are reading, now before you think I’m about to unleash a million revelations about my life, I’m actually just going to keep things subtle. So here’s today’s topic:

Why am I a blogger? And why fashion?

Well, I was always into writing and reading as well, but I never paid much attention to it, I then started an instagram and snap chat style book for events.

So I come home from school, and I’m casually stalking people on Instagram and I went to my mum raving about all sorts of fashion and trends and she goes “write about it.”

As much as she was probably trying to get me to shut up, I created an entire plan on how I can start a blog and be a young blogger yet keep my grades up and have a social life.

So I turned my passion for fashion and my interest in writing into all things Kiki, and that was difficult, the journey came with its own issues and still does, but keep your head up and just do it.

My main aim for the blog, and the reason I picked fashion is because, I am a very expressive person and I strongly feel like everyone should be. I believe very strongly in this generation as well, yes it comes with its own issues, but didn’t every generation? Let’s just embrace what this generation gave us by expressing our selves through fashion. So that’s the purpose of all things Kiki, to allow us to express our selves through fashion and embrace this generation where fashion has evolved like Cra-zy.

All things Kiki is also a place where people of all body types are appreciated and taken into consideration,  fashion today is mainly about the petite girl but I think it’s important to embrace diversity and celebrate curves! Mostly because I am an African based blogger and that is the standard body type in the continent,  but just cause the girls with curves are being celebrated that does not mean that just because your petite or athletic you can’t be here, the blog’s for everyone. Even boys,  sometimes. And so empowering was also a big reason I started, basically allow everybody to feel like a somebody, and we all know, when you look good, there’s this confidence to you. I want that for my readers.

I wanted to break the cliche that is young people are full of potential but can’t do anything about it yet in Africa, there aren’t many teenage bloggers, singers not even waitresses for extra cash. I want so strongly to prove that just because we are young that by no means determines what our limits are, I’m not saying you can be a 14 year old lawyer, but you don’t need a degree to be a blogger, you tuber, activist, pod caster or photographer. Just be something that is important to you, or work towards something that you love.

Working hard for something you love is called passion, working hard for something you don’t love is called stress.

So it’s pretty simple, express, embrace, celebrate, empower, achieve.

That’s what all things Kiki is all about.

Let me know what you think of this blog post in the comments below.

       -Xoxo Kiki.

DashiKIKI

It’s Kiki and welcome to all things kiki.

The sun’s out and that means it’s time to take you down to the mother land and bring on the colour, print and V-Neck.
Dashikis modernized African fashion, they are so easy to wear and anyone can rock them! They are different, comfortable, chic and trending.

Here are the different ways we can rock dashikis for your dress and body type as well as circumstance:

You gotta be careful with this look … I paired this blue dashiki with black shorts … I would suggest a good pair of sneaks or black ankle length boots for a good shoe choice. Who wouldn’t be tempted to pair this look with some tan Brown knee high boots? Don’t. Why? Well you have your self a gorgeous blue top, if your feeling edgy do more of a heel this will give you a sexy yet chilled look the tanned boots will act as a colour block and make your look dull.

I accessorized with a sling dashiki bag and a thick leather choaker … (or as my 8 year old neighbor called it… The dog collar) These put the theme of your look together. You can substitute with a simple neck lace and clutch purse.

Never underestimate the power of accessories

I kept the eye make up subtle for this but did a red matte lip, you can copy this example or do a purple lip, whatever pops!

This look pushes you out of your comfort zone and let’s you do casual, cool and sexy in one look.

Unleash your inner Beyonce and own look one!

For those of you who prefer a ‘less look’ you can still rock this look in your own way… How? Well…

May I present look 2! Cool kids this is for you. Throw some flats of your own choice on and a pale scarf over your blue dashiki and some black ripped shorts and voila!!! It’s cute, trendy and comfortable. Less is more with this look …

Keep the makeup light and the lip colour matching with the scarf of your choice.

Instead of a scarf you can choose to wear a long necklace and an anklet to piece the look together. Remember that with this look you can do with your hair what you please!

<><><><><><><><><><>

If you prefer a warmer look:

Dashikis can be rocked in cool colours like blue and vibrant colours such as Orange and yellow.

I like to pull these looks off low key. Simple and pretty, it expresses positivity and warmth, I tried to pull this off and show case simplicity:

  • If you are to accessorize use fringe bags and tan browns, I used a colourful bandana and kept the rest of this look quite low key because the colours are quite vibrant and loud, we’d like to be sure were not over accessorizing (no one wants to look like they got swallowed by a rainbow, digested by a fruit basket and thrown up by a fairy) so keep accessories on the minimum.

Keeping the accessories on the minimum, keep the make up between pink, red and nude.

I want to see how you can pull off this look. Tag me in your instagram posts @tatiana.kiara and message me the pictures of your looks on Facebook @Tatiana Kiara … And snap chat me the looks as well @misstati7

_________________________

Here’s a fun fact about me … I don’t like showing my arms … And just how that makes me uncomfortable, showing your legs might be completely out of the question as well! Don’t worry I got you covered. (Get it? *covered* … like no leg?) Ok… Not funny..But anyway:

Perfectly pieced together it’s just enough to stand out yet still go in the crowd. The pop from an over sized hoop ear ring and the white on the dashiki really changes up the typical dashiki style.

With this look you can substitute by putting your hair up with a nice bandana, (watch your colours) and have blue skinny jeans on instead of black.

For the shoes, do a nice pair of tomys or sandals and for a more edgy look get yourself some metallic flats or take it to another level with metallic stilettos!

Just like the entire look, keep the make up nice and subtle or metallic.

For a warmer look that even the dudes can pull off I suggest to go for yellow or orange dashikis.

To the guys: (or girlfriends who’ll go out and buy their boyfriends dashikis. Yesss I know you alllll)

Pair jeans with light yellow, blue, white or luminous green dashikis. Some nice high-tops(those sneakers that get to your ankles) will complement the look. And the girls can pull this off too:

Like I said just jeans and a bright dashiki!

Ladies, you can have your jeans ripped or not, accessorize this bright look with a thin choacker or a long necklace for a hot day out. Legs covered but still looking gorgeous!!!
